TAG Heuer's own designers are behind the case, bands, and virtual dials. While Intel provided the Connected's heart in the form of the Atom chip, Google was responsible for its Wear OS operating system. The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer teamed up with two of the tech industry's biggest names to develop the first-generation Connected: the microchip specialists Intel and internet behemoth Google. It combines the technology of a smartwatch with the look and feel of a luxury watch, specifically that of the famous TAG Heuer Carrera. CAR2090, a Carrera Calibre 01 with a black PVD coating.In a November 2015 interview with WatchTime, then- TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver explained: "If you know about the brand, you know that its motto is 'Swiss Avant-Garde Since 1860.' A connected watch is avant-garde, no? If we are truly avant-garde, we need to offer a connected watch." The Connected lives up to that philosophy. This colorful special edition has a dial designed by Alec Monopoly. One of the collection's most unique pieces is the CAR201AA. This model, the CAR2A1L, is made of PVD-coated stainless steel. The series also contains a model dedicated to the late Ayrton Senna. Examples include the reference CAR208Z with a gray dial and steel bezel, and the reference CAR205B in rose gold. TAG Heuer offers a wide variety of sporty chronographs in the Carrera 01 series. Another special feature of this timepiece is its skeletonized dial, which offers a view of the movement at work. It was also the first Carrera to use the in-house Calibre Heuer 01. Known for their rather conservative approach, TAG Heuer wowed the Baselword crowd with the Carrera 01's futuristic design.
